Live the essence of Tao

If you see only other men’s tracks, and do not walk you path, you will make no discoveries.

Only when you live the essence of Tao, that you’ll experience the mystery.

It is hidden but always present.
I don’t know who gave birth to it .
It is older than the concept of God.

One thing many people do not know is that our legs are more important than our hands, as far as health is concerned.

This is easy to understand.  We use our hands to perform myriad tasks, from typing on the computer, cooking a delicious meal to waving goodbye.  It is our hands that make us distinctive from other animals.

The fact is:  Legs are more crucial than our hands.  In the Taoist tradition, it is believed that aging often begins with our legs, rather than our hands.  Problems with the legs can signal the beginning of aging.  On the other hand, there are creatures in this world that are born with only legs.  None of them are born with only hands.

One way to stay young and healthy is, therefore, to walk more.

The importance of legs is stressed in the practice of tai chi.  Strengthening of legs is fundamental in the exercise.  Hands are important, but they are secondary when in comparison to legs.

Because of the modern convenience, we tend to walk less and less.  So do yourself a favor.  If you cannot spare time for any exercise, do not forget to walk!

As the Chinese saying goes,  ‘walking five thousands steps a day leads you to longevity’.

A very valuable lesson that I’ve learned about success is to value failure.

It sounds paradoxical, but life is paradoxical.

There are opposite forces in all things we do.  Day is not purely day; and night is not purely night.  The moment when the sun rises, the day is inching to the night every second.

So why must a failure be a failure, and not a journey taking you closer to success?

In order to attract success, learn to see failure not as failure, but a necessary element of success.  Only when you are able to see failure in this way, that you are able to spot in failure opportunities that breed success.

As Lao Tze says,

“If you want to become whole,
first let yourself become broken.
If you want to become straight,
first let yourself become twisted.
If you want to become full,
first let yourself become empty.
If you want to become new,
first let yourself become old.
Those whose desires are few gets them,
those whose desires are great go astray. ”
(Chapter 22)
